The BIO (binding origin information), which is legally binding on all customs administrations in the territory of the EU for a period of 3 years from the date of its entry into force, may be obtained in order to determine the origin of a particular product in accordance with the requirements of regulatory enactments. The BIO shall not replace the proof of origin documents.
The holder of the BIO must ensure that the conditions for obtaining the origin (e.g. raw material costs, the production process and the origin of the raw materials) remain unchanged throughout its term of validity.
Service requests
In order to receive the BIO, an application shall be submitted to the SRS Electronic Declaration System (EDS), e-mail (with a secure electronic signature) MP.lietvediba@vid.gov.lv, by post or in person.
