As of 20:00 on 19 September 2023, operations at Silene Border Crossing Point (BCP) have been halted; thus it is no longer possible to carry out customs formalities at this Customs Control Point (CCP). For those importing, exporting, moving goods in transit, or traveling, the Latvia-Belarus border can be crossed through Pāternieki CCP. Logistics specialists and carriers should plan their routes accordingly.
Pāternieki CCP remains operational on the Latvia-Belarus border. Therefore, all the relevant customs formalities for goods being transported between the European Union and the Republic of Belarus, as well as for transit cargos to or from other countries, must be completed at Pāternieki CCP (customs office code – 0731).
Customs procedures already applied, such as export, transit, and re-export, that were initially intended to be completed at Silene CCP, can be completed under the general procedure at Pāternieki CCP, unless the specific goods are subject to any prohibitions or restrictions, including sanctions.
In case of any questions or uncertainties, please contact the hotline of the State Revenue Service at +371 67120000 and select the conversation topic "Customs."
Due to an anticipated increase in cargo flow through Pāternieki CCP, carriers should expect longer wait times for border crossing. Information regarding queues for cargo and passenger vehicles at the State border can be found on the website of the State Border Guard.
On 19 September 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers, acting under Article 35.1 of the Law on the State Border of the Republic of Latvia, made the decision to suspend operations at Silene BCP to ensure the integrity of the State border and to prevent potential threats to the State.
